Rubao (辱包), literally "insulting the bun" (as in pork bun), is the act of memeing and insulting Xi Jinping. The term is sometimes written as 乳包, which is also pronounced "rubao" and means "milk buns".

Etymology

On December 28, 2013, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), dined at Qingfeng Baozi Shop's Yuetan Branch, located north of Yuetan Park[1]. His visit was widely covered by state media, resulting in a stampede of pilgrims visiting the store. Thus, "baozi" (buns) and "Qingfeng", two of Xi's earliest nicknames, were born, and many more were to form in the years to come.
